Using Voki to teach languages
Voki is a free service that enables teachers to use personalised avatars . It is a fantastic tool for teachers, specially language teachers as it can be used to record messages in different languages.
Many students lack the confidence to practise their speaking skills in front of the class. However, Vokis give them the opportunity to practise them in a safe and fun environment. Students find them entertaining and enjoy having the opportunity of using the as part of the languages lessons.
Teachers can use Vokis to evaluate students’ ability to use the language, but also to keep records of their ability and to monitor progress. Parents usually appreciate having the opportunity of seeing the Vokis and listening to their children using a different language.
I find Vokis are a great tool to boost students’ confidence and to improve their pronunciation.
